European Commission presents new initiatives and reports on the delivery and progress of key initiatives of the Circular Economy Plan Print

On the 26th January 2017, one year after the adoption of the Circular Economy Action Plan, the European Commission published an implementation report on the progress made in fostering a sustainable and profitable economy.

Together with the report, the Commission presented 3 new initiatives:

In addition, the implementation report also outlines key upcoming initiatives of 2017:

  • The Plastic Strategy: A detailed analysis of the legal, technical or practical problems at the interface of chemical, product and waste legislation that may hinder the transition of recycled materials into the productive economy
  • A legislative proposal on minimum quality requirements to promote the safe reuse of treated waste water
  • A Fitness Check on EU Ecolabel and EU Eco-management and Audit scheme
  • A circular economy stakeholders’ platform, which will be launched by the Commission and the European Economic and Social Committee
