Will there ever be a common energy policy in the European Union? If so, through what kind of process will it evolve, and if not, what barriers will restrain the implementation of the cooperation at this community level?
While from day to day a greater need arises for a common European energy policy, the EU member states and their citizens are becoming less and less enthusiastic towards the common EU-wide regulation. But why?
Many people agree that there is a need to integrate markets, and later to set up a common policy, but there are also just as many opponents. It is especially the political interest of the different member states and the corporate sector, that hinders to put the management of the energy sector to a common level.
