DIGESPO, an EU-funded project, aims to improve energy-efficiency in buildings by using innovative solar systems that will allow consumers to generate their own heat and electricity for homes and workplaces alike.

Under the NACIR project, scientists are testing the efficiency of tiny, concentrated photovoltaic cells. The project has led to new applications including a small demonstration plant by replacing the polluting diesel formerly used to pump water for irrigation.

Such innovations could change the lives of millions of people and create growth locally. DIGESPO and NACIR are confirming Europe as a leader in solar energy research.
