On behalf of European Development Commissioner, Andris Piebalgs, we have the pleasure of inviting you to an EU Summit on Sustainable Energy for All on 16 April 2012. In addition to an opening ceremony with keynote addresses by United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and EU Commission President José Manuel Barroso, the agenda of the event foresees two panel discussions: one on ‘Catalysing Growth and Empowering Change’ in the morning and one on ‘Gender Equality and Access to Modern Energy Services’ in the afternoon.

The aim of the event is to bring together global actors including European and partner country ministers, civil society and private sector representatives, academics and officials from international, regional and continental organisations. Our belief is that access to sustainable energy is essential to promote inclusive growth in partner countries and bring integrated solutions to many of the challenges posed by poverty.
