Start a debate: Wind turbines options in Hungary |
Acc. to news published in RENEWABLE ENERGY WORLD.COM on June 10th, 2010. Alstom announced the market introduction of its new 3 MW wind turbine. According to the company ECO 110 typ. wind turbine is one of the most effective onshore wind turbines and its use is especially suggested for low to medium wind speed sites. The 110 m rotor diameter allows capturing even greater amounts of wind on a given site, maximizing the energy yield of the turbine as its blades are designed in a way allowing capturing more power more effectively. It is known, that other turbine manufacturers, like General Electric, Nordex. etc. introduced new types utilizing low to medium wind speed to the market as well. It is to consider the utilization of these turbine types in Hungary taken into consideration the Hungarian wind speed situation when developing new wind farms. It is known, that the evaluation of the tender issued by the Hungarian Energy Agency in 2009 is in delay. Many professionals declared with the release of the tender already that the tender conditions do not assist rather hinder the SME in participating in the implementation of new wind farms. There were negotiations behind the scenes that the tender shall be very likely withdrawn and a new tender shall be issued. Whether this will be the case or result shall be published the time till disclosing the results offers for those committed in constructing wind turbines an option for a revision of the type(s) planned till now and to consider whether to replace the old types with new ones applicable for low to medium wind speed. These article aims to start a debate – I shall be glad if project developers and manufacturers start discussing which type would be more convenient to the Hungarian wind circumstances ie. while optimizing turbine quantity and power production, decreasing this way the investment costs and increasing the ROI.
